Slow logon WebI Rich Client?
I was struggling with the SAP BusinessObjects WebI Rich Client. I’ll share my knowledge and experiences with the connection between the SAP BO Rich Client and the SAP BusinessObjects Server.
Our IT specialists installed a new version of SAP BusinessObjects (14.0.4) on a SAP NetWeaver based platform. This time configured with 10 nodes, the old server was configured with 1 node. To optimize the server we splitted the AdaptiveProcessing Servers (APS). If you want to know how to split these APS, read this blogpost from Jan de Vilder.
The best way of splitting the APS, is copy the standard APS and add/delete the services, configure the correct heap size, etc. For more details read the blog I mentioned.
After setting up the basics for a new SAP BusinessObjects installation, the recommended firewall ports were opened. By testing the connection between the WebI Rich Client and the SAP BO server, the total duration when we were connected was approximately 7 minutes. Nobody could tell us what the problem was, all serverside settings were OK.
We tried a lot of things:
– Open more ports in the firewall
– Deactivated the virusscanner
One option resulted in the correct solution. We removed the servers that were stopped and disabled. By testing the connection again, the logontime reduced to a few seconds!!! Probably this is a bug in the software :-(
What we learned is to delete all the servers with services that we don’t need! If your are facing with the same problem, please try this solution, it might be helpful for you!
