So in essence nothing has changed in comparison to XI 3.1 with regard to Webi. A shame really, because it’s a nuisance to switch back and forth between the client and the interactive viewer. Let alone creating it from scratch not using the GUI (I don’t think I’ve ever managed to do so without ending up with a massive headache).

thanks Pieter for sharing your knowledge on 4.0. We really appreciate and look for more of these how to manual as these will be a great source of learning material for self starters..

In BOE XI 3.1, there used to be a way we different kind of URL for Crystal Reports. Eg: http://:/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr?&&…&
The new SAP document for the OpenDoc function, doesn’t talk about that at all.
Neither does it talk of very useful paramteters like APSUSER, APSPASSWORD, APSAUTHTYPE needed for passing authentication credentials.
    What are your thoughts?

    • Hi Rahul,

Thanks for your comment. Your perception is right, the parameters will not work in BI4. If you want to know what kind of function will work, please send me an e-mail via the contact form. I can send you a document with the parameters.

      Regards,
      Pieter

    Hi Pieter,

I have created a few links to the reports in BO which is from a simple Webpage. When i click on them, i am taken to the login page as usual, however i can’t select the Authentication type. This makes it not possible to login to BO.

The general login URL which just has the URL only till the InfoviewApp, works wonders (Authentication Type dropdownlist shows up).

I read through your manual, it looks great. Also the SAP product guide is good, but SAP guide does not seem to be complete.

I am in the need of the details as to how i can set the authentication type as SAP. Could you please help me in this regard. Would appreciate any kind of help.

    Many Thanks,
    Nagavaibhav

    • Hi NagaVaibhav,

I remember this problem :-) You need to setup one of the configuration files (xml) on the server. Try to configure the file “OpenDocument.properties” in the directory: “C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\custom”.

Enter the following content in the file:
      authentication.visible=true
      authentication.default=secSAPR3

Save and restart your tomcat server.

Hope this will solve your problem.

      Regards,
      Pieter

    Hi Pieter,

Thanks for your comprehensive document! In version BI4 FP3, the document link has apparently disappeared.

I don’t know if you can test it on a BO BI 4 FP3 environment, to confirm or deny that this feature is not working anymore.

    Thanks for your response!

    Jorn

    • Hi Jorn,

Did you use the Web view in WebIntelligence? With JAVA the document link won’t work. I’m not able to test this in my own environment, because I have no installation of BO BI4 FP3.

      Regards,
      Pieter

        Hi Pieter,

Thanks for your quick response, I finally managed to get it working. Your ‘with JAVA the document link won’t work’ did the trick…

When viewing the document, I couldn’t add in a hyperlink, so I was changing to the edit mode, but that one was still in java modus…

Thanks again for the answer. It saves me a lot of programming…

        Jorn

          Hi Jorn Van,
I have the same problem… Could you tell us how you solved the problem?

          Thank you in advance.

          Best regards

          • Hi Javier,

In WebIntelligence you’ve the option to open a report via the JAVA variant or the HTML variant. For using OpenDocument you need to use the HTML variant, JAVA will not support this functionality.

            Regards,
            Pieter

            Thanks Pieter! it works!!!

    Hi Pieter,
Thanks for you step by step OpenDocument URL document.
It has been really useful as a starting point, but I have few clarifications on this.
Till Step9 everything works fine, when we are Step10
    1. How did you selectyear as 2004 (was it a constant selection ?)
    2. When i try to edit the link again, Documet Prompts doesnt appear and i am unable to change previously selected values…
    3. If you are using Select Object option, is it possible to select from List of values (for ex: for Calyear ??)
    4. For each prompt object we have got 2 list boxes. What we should be selecting in both. Second one seems to be Key ??

Your answers will be much appreciated..

    Thanks
    Umar

    • Hi Umar,

Thanks for your comment. About your questions:
      1. In insert ‘2004’ as an example. It’s not possible to select any value.
      2. True, this option is not available. Currently I’m not be able to check this with SP4, maybe in SP4 it works.
      3. Not possible.
      4. You can insert both, the second one is the key-value. Keys are always unique.

      Hope this wil help you.

      Regards,
      Pieter

Hi Pieter, thanks for your goods comments, i have a problem but with a range of dates, in your example use a calendar day and works fine, but in my case i use this range for example: 05.2011 – 06.2011, i built the link and the parameter is created so: &lsMZIMMYEARM=05.2010;05.2010&&lsIZIMMYEARM=201005;201006 and for me it is correct but i receive this error: Internal Erro for called API “answerPromptsEx” (Err_WIS_30270). What is wrong?, i can use other types of values like single value, a range of values (eg. 2030;2040) without problem.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Peter,

I need to create a hyperlink in webi report without mentioning server name and port number and by mentioning report name.

We using the syntax to call a report by passing parameters:

    =”“+[var_no_of_switch_request] +”

I need a hyperlink to call a webi report from another, without passing any parameter.

Could you help me for create the hyperlink.

  9. Gowrishankar says:

    Hi Peter,

This is full syntax we using for the hyperlink:

    =”“+[var_no_of_switch_request] +”

this has been missed in the previous post.

    Thanks

    • Hi Gowrishankar,

When creating the hyperlink via the steps that I wrote in my post, standard the servername is not mentioned. Only when you apply the option “Use complete URL path to create hyperlink”.

      Regards,
      Pieter

    =If([Summary Liquidity].[Subject Title]=”Total Liquidity”) Then(““+[Summary Liquidity].[Current Value Display]+””+”“) Else [Summary Liquidity].[Current Value Display]

i am using the above code for my hyperlink to a cell in column of the table. this works fine, though i have given as sRefresh=Y but still the reports shows the prompt. Had i done any mistake with the syntax.

FYI, this report is viewed in IPAD. If i can fix this then its a great job.
